This will be one of the most pointless wars in history, neither side cant lunch a ground invasion so they will just end up air striking each other. 

AFAIK the nuclear sites are under mountains and isreal and even the USA can only really hope to slow down progress by collapsing the entrances.

To hit Iran's deep underground facilities would require heavy bombers, and that might not even work if the sites are deep in the mountains. Israel's biggest bunker buster is the GBU-28, and can only be carried externally, so even if they use an f-35, the strike would be risky.

It really depends how deep it can go. I think Purley just with airstrikes, it can maybe set them back a year or two, but we don't need a short term, we need a long term solution - a regime change is probably the only thing that can lead to lasting peace.

Im really curious about questions, that even leading strategists avoid answering. It’s simply impossible to tell at this stage, when no details are available:

The kind of strike, what weapons or systems will be used, will the strike be a surprise, or will Iran be ready? 

Additional questions: are all Iran’s nuclear facilities known to Israel and will they all be hit successfully or not? Maybe there are secret underground locations that cannot be reached and destroyed? 

Last, how will Iran respond if such attack takes place? That is a crucial topic to be addressed:

For example Yahia Sinwar and Mash’aal confessed that when Hamas planned the 10/7 attack, nobody could predict what Israel may do. Still they had no problem moving forward. I consider that stupidity of the worst kind.  A criminal kind of stupidity. Anyway, later he and fellow terrorists understood very well!

Iran reportedly buried their sites several hundred meters under ground. 

That is enough to survive a nuclear blast, let alone a bunker buster. 
An airstrike could probably hit the entrances that we know of to these facilities, but I don’t think we can seal them off entirely for long. 

The only way to properly destroy them would be to go in with a ground invasion, but that would be very complicated for all the obvious reasons. 

The easier option may just be to topple the regime entirely and let pro-Israel seculars take over.

A big strike can slow it down, but the regime believes that having nuclear deterrence is critical: it protects them from retaliation for all the harm they cause whenever they can. They aspire to be like North Korea - an outlaw state that nobody wants to mess with because they're crazy.

The Islamic Regime's stated purpose is "spreading the revolution"\*. The only thing that will reliably stop Iran's nuclear program is deposing the Islamic Regime and replacing it with a sane government.

Very few people have both the knowledge and the information to know whether it is feasible to prevent Iran from building a weapon through force. Iran has a high level of nuclear technology and it is absolutely nothing at all like syroa in 2007 or Iraq 1981. A lot is also dependent on the survival of the regime, or its demise. If an anti Israel regime persists in Iran and they are determined to build a weapon, most likely they will be able to.

I think, usa and israel united strike will be effective. Look like its not happening tho, since usa just withdraw b2 bombers from the area... israel alone, would have to put some jocker out of the sleeve, something like deploying forces, as we did in syria in "operation many ways". The results of doing that in iran... only aman could predict. I belive, if israel strike alone, we have to go for all we can, including leadership and oil, and keep striking each few months untill regime change or they accepting our terms. I see that as restoring deterance, not as just destroying iranian nuclear program. That would be very hard politically tho... israel will be seen as agressor. But thats issue of state survival.

If its usa/israeli operation tho... i belive we can just destroy nuclear program, and thretean to repeat that, to make a good nucleae deal.

Israel should be also striking for Iranian oil infrastructure. That's a lifeline of the regime and it could be toppled if the Iranian economy completely goes under drain.

Israel is scared to death of Iran getting nukes. They see this as the end of Israel. They will do whatever it takes to stop them. In Lebanon they fly a small team of commandos in who went into and underground base to destroy it. They all came back alive and accomplished their mission. So they have other means beyond dropping bombs.

Iran has few allies even in the Middle East. Others might make a peep in protest, but they would be happy to see Iran without nukes as well.

Trump is playing the Trump game. It's all about him. He's not switching sides he's doing whatever is best for him. I suspect that his recent change towards Israel has something else going on behind the scenes.

A lot of their nuclear facilities are already deep underground.. It'll be tough to wipe out completely. I suspect the Russians are probably helping them. 



I honestly think this would be part of the sudden war that'll happen.. I thought about this way back and other users posted something similar. I think the timeline would something like.. Trump announces the Abraham Accords' expansion with Saudi Arabia -&gt; Recognition of the Palestinian State -&gt; Third Temple -&gt; Al-Aqsa collapses -&gt; Iran attacks.. WW3. I can easily see this happening.

They better be able to show the receipts, otherwise it sounds like they could be making it up. Additionally, it's a convenient time to disclose this information, given that they are currently trying to ramp up their own Nuclear program. I figure they want to say, "Well, if we can't have nukes, Israel shouldn't get them either". It will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next couple of days.

Sane military analysis understands Iran will curbstomp both Israel *and* US forces in a shooting war. This isn't support for the dictatorship in Iran. It's common fucking sense. Iran can and will bring global oil shipments out of the Middle East to a screaming halt.
